Georgetown Area: Home Stories

Outdoor Family Calls Georgetown Home.
Today, we meet an outdoor-loving family in the Georgetown area. Many mornings, you will find them on the porch with a cup of coffee in hand. On many cooler evenings, you may find them around the fire pit or playing corn hole with friends. When their sons and daughter-in-law come home to Georgetown, you will find them on the back porch during much of their time together.

Jillynn shared, “Outdoor space has always been important to our family. Sarah knew this as she searched diligently to find this home for us in Georgetown. We have an avid love of the outdoors, including travels to the Colorado mountains to go hiking or fly-fishing or to photograph the Aspens. Sarah knew that backyards and back porches would be key factors for us.”

Something You Really Like About This Home.
The couple added, “We loved the exteriors of this home, but after Sarah took us inside, we also saw a great floor plan. One thing we loved was the cozy screened porch off of the living room - it is inviting and helps provide year-round "outdoor" options! When touring this home, we felt like the kitchen and the bathrooms needed a bit of work - which is something we enjoy. We've made some of the updates ... and we will take our time completing the rest. Most evenings, when the string of solar lights click on under the oaks, you will find us with friends or family back out on the porch - ready to watch the sunset. It is just so peaceful, and we love that.”

Favorite Spot in Your Home.
Steve added, “I remember, when we drove up in front of this house, I rolled down my window and told Sarah I would buy it before we even went inside. I liked the house as soon as I drove up ... but, I have to say, my favorite part of this home was (and still is) the back porch. I knew I was home when I sat down back there, looked out toward the fence at the sunset, and took a deep breath.”

Favorite Discoveries About Your Area.
Jillynn added, "We LOVE the square in Georgetown. Although we are often on the trails walking along the San Gabriel River or hiking around Lake Georgetown, we also love to go down to the square on Friday nights to eat Mexican food at Blue Corn Harvest or Pizza at 600 Degrees. We love driving about 5 minutes to this amazing array of restaurants and then walking around the square to take in a bit of live music playing on the balconies and porches. I also do photography and have enjoyed shooting senior photos, website/headshot photos, and engagement sessions in downtown Georgetown and near the Blue Hole along the river area. It is awesome!"

Something You've Learned/Advice to Others in the Buying Process.
"With Sarah’s help, we have purchased homes in great neighborhoods in Northwest Austin, Round Rock, and Georgetown. When Sarah mentioned this home in Georgetown, she encouraged us to step just outside of the search area we had previously defined. Because of her advice, we stretched our search radius north by about 7 miles. We absolutely loved the Georgetown area, but since we both worked in Austin at the time, we wondered if the commute might be a bit long. Sarah discussed the home’s proximity to major highways, and encouraged us to take a look at it. We listened to Sarah’s advice to stretch our search area just a bit and discovered just what we were looking for. We discovered that in Austin's market, it is important to be creative, flexible, and open to various options when looking at homes."
